USING WELCOME LETTERS TO ATTRACT NEW CLIENTS

If you have ever relocated to a new city or state, than you know how hard it can be to establish new service providers. Once the boxes are unpacked, you’ll begin the daunting task of finding a new physician, a great gym, a dependable drycleaner and so forth. If you don’t have a trusted friend or colleague to offer you referrals, the task is even more difficult.

As a service provider, you can capture these new residents before they have time to start searching, by networking with a real estate agency.

1)

If you don’t have a client who is in the real estate business, find a reputable real estate agency and call them. Ask them if you can schedule a fifteen minute meeting with them to discuss an easy networking offer with great benefits to them and their customers.

2)

Prepare a welcome letter that reads like this:

“Just wanted to be the first to welcome you to {the city name}. Our business, {business name}, offers {list your services}.

We are a dependable business, dedicated to serving our clients through personalized service, emergency appointments, and flexible hours.

As a welcome gift, we are offering you $10 off your first appointment with us. Just mention this letter when you call for your appointment. It’s our way of showing you that we do care about our clients.

Enclose a brochure of your services with each mailed letter.

When you meet with the real estate agent, show him/her your letter, typewritten on your stationery. Ask them if they would be willing to give you their mailing list of each new home buyer or renter so you can send them the letter. In return, offer them either a dollar per referral or a dollar per referral toward bartering for massage (i.e. fifty-five referrals equals one hour of your time giving the agent a massage or better yet, a gift certificate to give someone as a gift). If they cannot give your their mailing list, give them the sealed, stamped envelops and have them add their customer business labels.

If the real estate agent is not receptive to this networking idea, find another real estate agent and repeat this plan until you‘ve made a networking contact.
